Tuscan Countryside, 1955. After a year on the run and struggling to survive, Franco Cappelli hears a broadcast on the radio from state scientists stating that the alien mold — the very one that took from him what he held most dear and destroyed his hometown, Florence — spreads more rapidly when it comes into contact with fire. Now a conspiracy theorist who trusts no one, Franco doesn’t believe it. In fact, he becomes convinced that fire is actually the mold’s weakness. Drawing on his past military experience, he creates an explosive and sets off back toward his now desolate hometown…
