It was nearing the end of the year 1945 when a young farmer, plowing the arid soil near the Egyptian town of Nag Hammadi, unearthed a sealed jar of clay whose contents would rebirth a millennia-lost religion, reshaping our understanding of humanity's role in the universe. Inside the vessel, thirteen ancient books dating back to the second century of our era. Gazed upon by human eyes, once again, for the first time in nearly two thousand years. Heretical gospels that told a forgotten and forbidden tale: that of Sophia’s fall, the prison of flesh forged by a false god, and the divine spark that dwells within us all. What was found that day would forever change the story of creation itself, revealing not love, but ignorance. Not order, but chaos. Across the long silence between their burial and discovery, Christian faith devoured itself and was remade again and again. From the first communities of believers rose countless visions of God, some seeing creation as a gift, others as a curse. Gnosticism found enemies on every throne: to the early Church it was blasphemy; to the Roman emperors, rebellion; to the great Councils and local synods, heresy. In time, the doctrines that survived the rise and fall of empires became law; and law... law became faith. It was written. Sin would forever be the language of mankind. In a world carefully built around dogma, silence became the answer to every question. Out of the silence, scarcely, came the poets of faith, who built their realms from symmetry and fear, where every virtue had its punishment and every revelation began with guilt. Their great works, from The Divine Comedy to Paradise Lost, and so many others, turned theology into art, binding imagination to this day. But silence cannot last forever, and truth has the most unusual ways of thriving, even against formidable odds. From the sands of Egypt to the tongues of poets and prophets, the old knowledge endures: that divinity was never above, but within. It is here that our game begins.
