Tuscan Countryside, 1955. After a year on the run and struggling to survive, Franco Cappelli hears a broadcast on the radio from state scientists stating that the alien mold — the very one that took from him what he held most dear and destroyed his hometown, Florence — spreads more rapidly when it comes into contact with fire. Now a conspiracy theorist who trusts no one, Franco doesn’t believe it. In fact, he becomes convinced that fire is actually the mold’s weakness.
